A Sustainable Future at Farm & Stable

A Sustainable Future at Farm & Stable

Every day we make it our mission to provide care and support for horses and riders to the best of our ability, and therefore, the natural extension of this is to ensure that we protect the environment in which we share.

At Farm & Stable we believe that it is vital to make the necessary steps forward, however big or small, to ensure that the planet will be a better place for future generations to come.

In this blog, we cover some of the ways that our company is working towards reducing its carbon footprint to operate in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

Addressing the problem of plastic

We recognise that a large amount of plastic gets sent out to our customers every single day through the ordering of our products. At the moment, there just simply isn’t an alternative packaging option for many equine products to ensure the quality, hygiene, and security of the products are protected. However, we are fully committed to improving this and are minimising plastic consumption wherever possible. Just some of the ways we are doing this include:

  • Shipping orders in recyclable cardboard boxes.
  • Working with closely with supplies to investigate new packaging methods.
  • Introducing more and more recyclable and biodegradable packaging options.

Commitment from the whole team

Sustainability is more than just a part of our organisation’s strategy – every member of the team is committed to our duty to make change.

More examples of our sustainable activities include:

  • Continual measuring and tracking of the company's carbon footprint to identify areas for improvement and set goals for reduction.
  • Consolidating our own van runs to reduce the carbon footprint of deliveries.
  • Adoption of energy-efficient appliances, such as LED lighting, efficient HVAC systems, and motion sensors to turn off lights when they are not in use.
  • Reducing paper usage by using digital documents where possible.
  • Implementing a recycling program to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills.
  • Sourcing materials and products from local suppliers where possible to reduce transportation emissions.
  • Over half of the team use electric or hybrid vehicles and carpool to events wherever possible.
  • Encourage employees to adopt sustainable practices such as good recycling habits  and promote a culture of environmental responsibility.
